COSTS & CONTRIBUTIONS

An initial deposit of R965 per household was required for Phase 1 which went towards the application to the City Council.

Although this phase has already been completed, residents who have not contributed towards this are urged to still make the payment for phase 1, as some of the monies budgeted for phase 2 have been used to expedite the project.

After provisional approval, an additional once-off fee of ±R6700 per household will be payable for          Phase 2. This will be used for the infrastructure, construction costs and professional fees.

Four years ago, when we initiated the monitored access control project, we utilized budgets and costing models from other boomed-off areas as a reference. Our initial approach categorized duets as smaller properties, assuming they would contribute half of what full-title households do.

However, upon reflection, we acknowledge this was a mistake. Many duets in our area are larger in size and accommodate larger families compared to full-title houses. The focus of the FGNV community project is on enhancing the lives of individuals and families, prioritizing people over structures.

To ensure fairness and unity, we have decided to standardize costs and contributions for all households. Equal contribution fosters fairness and a sense of ownership among all residents. Let's work together to strengthen our community.

The Committee is currently reviewing the estimate for the project and it is the expressed aim to prevent increased costs and to pass cost savings onto the residents in the lowering of future fees. The latest estimate will be shared by the end of May '24.
